Sewer Project Update- 6/28/10

The installation of the new sewer system in the phase one construction area is progressing well. However, I believe that the completion of this work will probably be  closer to the end of August. The directional drilling crew is about halfway down Sycamore Mills Road. I would expect that road to be completed in the next two weeks. Then the crews will begin work on Rose Tree Road at Sycamore Mills Road. This one mile stretch of road should take about one month to complete. Because Rose Tree Road is narrow and the new main will be in the roadway in many areas, it will be necessary to close the road except for the homeowners who live there and essential services. This step is necessary for both the safety of the public as well as the work crews. Signs will be posted as required by Penn DOT. I know that this work will cause some inconvenience for many of us who use this road daily. We will do every thing we can to minimize the inconvenience and get the work done as quickly as possible.

The work on Ridley Creek Road is progressing well. The major work , including repaving has been completed between Sycamore Mills Road and Baltimore Pike. Work has begun on South Ridley Creek Road and should be completed in two weeks. The crossing of Baltimore Pike will be done at night because of traffic and the safety of the construction crews. This work has not yet been scheduled.

Restoration has been completed in most of the neighborhoods but a number of areas are yet to be done. Restoration consists mainly of spreading topsoil, seed, and straw to help hold in water and promote growth. Some minor paving work is yet to be done in scattered areas. Material is still stored in areas to make it safely accessible. These areas will be cleaned up and all materials removed at the completion of work. I’m sure that there will be some number of areas that may need “touching up”. A final inspection of the entire job will be done when all construction is completed.

I would like to thank the vast majority of residents who have been extremely patient and cooperative during the construction process. Please call if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Dick Spielman
