Trash and Recycling Schedule for 2008
Yard Waste: (Changes in the current contract)
(Beginning October 1, 2006 through the end of the contract September
30, 2009)
Contractor shall collect, remove and dispose of yard waste placed at
curbside in approved bio-degradable, compostable bags, approved 55 gallon
container or tied into bundles no more than 3' in length and weighing no
more than 30 lbs. The collection will occur once each month on the
third Wednesday of each month throughout the year or other scheduled time as
approved by the Township. Yard waste may consist of tree trimmings,
shrubbery, general yard and garden residues/wastes and other similar
material but specifically excluding grass clippings.
Christmas trees: will be collected on the first Wednesday of the
month as part of the yard waste collection.
Newspapers/Paper:
Newspapers including the advertisements. Paper - all
periodicals other than newspaper, cardboard and other waste paper and
similar items.
Stack newspapers
neatly and place in brown paper bags or tie in a bundle (no plastic bags),
place on ground next to your recycling container
Glass:
Clear Glass: empty bottles, jars, food or beverage
containers made of clear transparent glass. Expressly excluded are
non-container glass, plate glass, blue, green or brown glass, porcelain
and ceramic products.
Colored Glass: empty bottles, jars, food or beverage
containers made of green and brown glass except non-container glass, plate
glass, blue glass, porcelain and ceramic products.
Aluminum:
Rinse all empty aluminum beverage and food containers. Place in recycling
container.
Bimetallic Cans:
Rinse empty food or beverage containers consisting of ferrous sides and
bottom and an aluminum top - commonly used for pet foods, soups, canned
vegetables, etc. Place in recycling container.
Bulk Waste Items with CFC (chlorofluorocarbon) (freon)
Appliances containing CFC's such as refrigerators, freezers, ice
makers, air conditioners,
dehumidifiers, require advance scheduling with the contractor and
will be billed separately. Residents may make separate arrangements
for disposal as long as it is done in accordance with the 1990 Clean Air
Act. H & R Trucking located in Woodlyn, PA, will remove freon and
dispose of the appliance for a fee residents may call 610-833-2836 or
take the appliance to Recycle Metals, Conchohocken, 610-828-5553 for a
smaller fee.
Carpet:
If you dispose of old carpet/rugs, you must cut them up into 3' or 4'
sections and tie with twine for easy handling
Cardboard:
Corrugated paper, cardboard or paperboards such as are used in the
manufacture of folding paper carton, set-up boxes and similar boxboard
products as further defined or limited by regulation. For recycling
purposes corrugated paper must be flattened and tied.
Plastics - empty containers known as HPDE #1 and #2, PET #1
and #2 & #3-#7
Leaves:
Contractor shall collect, remove and dispose of leaves at
curbside in approved compostable, biodegradable bags every
Wednesday
between October 17, 2007 through January 16, 2008.
There shall be no limit to the number of bags per household. Residents
shall place their leaves at curbside, or in case of no curbing, at the end
of their property, but at no time within the street.
Burning of yard waste permitted on the third Saturdays of
March and April by permit ONLY available from the Township Manager or you may sign
up on line. (rain date the following Saturday)
Used Motor Oil, Anti-Freeze and Car Batteries:
