Dear Upper Providence Township Residents,
Welcome to our inaugural monthly eNews. I’m humbled and thankful to be kicking off our first edition. The Township staff and council have been hard at work compiling lots of useful and pertinent information to share with all our 10,000+ residents. Everyone from our well-respected police department, to our newly hired Finance Director and Township Manger, and Bruno our first pet of the month! Council has been hard at work implementing this new electronic newsletter, and:
Upgrading and improving our website, improving access and ease of use
Simplifying the process to apply and join volunteer committees
Preparing to implement new technology to allow for hybrid (in person and remote) meetings
Continuing to maintain a safe and healthy working environment now almost 2+ years into the covid pandemic
Township Council welcomed three new colleagues this year. Dr. Christen Rexing brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in Public Health. Marsha Peterson was sworn in this year and is eager to roll up her sleeves and put her project management skill set to use. Thomas McFadden is our resident expert coming back to serve on council and providing historical context for all things Upper Providence. Kevin Else and I are now well into our 3rd year (time flies when you’re having fun, right?) of service. I’m grateful to be working side by side with such a smart and diverse group of individuals. And like everyone, we are hopeful to return to some level of normalcy soon.
What an exciting time to be a part of our vibrant and growing community! Our hope is you find this new source of information valuable. And we encourage your active participation in Upper Providence Township. On behalf of the entire council and staff, we thank you and look forward to serving the community!
Best,
Elgin Akarsoy
