If I file a complaint with the Township, will it remain confidential?

Yes and No. When a complaint is filed with the Township by an individual, the Township strongly encourages that this person (the complainant) provides his or her name and residence information with the description of the perceived violation. This information is not public information and remains private throughout any investigation. Under Section 708 of the PA Right to Know Law (Act 3 of 2008), if a requestor is seeking the name or copies of the complaint submitted to the Township or other correspondence between the complainant and the Township, this information is exempt from access and will not be provided. This type of information is exempt from public access under the Right to Know Law and the complainant's name and address will always remain confidential in this situation.

Depending on the nature of the code violation and case and/or whether a particular matter would go before the District Magistrate, the complainant should be made aware of the fact that he/she may be called to testify as a victim and describe the problem or issues identified in the complaint. Although these situations are very rare, in this situation the complainant’s identity is no longer confidential. Again, these cases are not common.

4. Will A. J. Blosenski pick up my old computer, TV and related components?

You may call A. J. Blosenski to make arrangements (for a fee) to have your TV picked up. Call them at 610-942-2707 to inquire. The Landfill Disposal Ban went into effect January 24, 2013. This means that no person may dispose of these devices or related components with their regular trash these items must be must be properly recycled. Here are some suggestions: - Some Best Buy locations will take TVs and monitors up to 32" along with DVD, CD players and most small electronics excluding microwaves It is best to call first. - Salvation Army at 66 Chester Pike in Darby will accept WORKING TVs of all sizes. - Some Staples Stores will accept computers, NO monitors or TV's. It is best to call first.

5. I need a new recycling can does the Township provide them?: Yes. Recycling cans are available at the Township Building Monday thru Friday, 8:30-4:30. If you are a new resident and the previous owners did not leave you one, you can come get a can and lid at no charge. If you would like an additional one, the can is $12 and the lid is $3.50, or $15.00 if purchased together. You may also pick up a recycling sticker for an additional can at no charge.

9. Who should I call about wild life on my property?: Call Strickler Animal Control - Allen Strickler office 610-485-2770 or any animal control company of your choice. The township does not handle wild life issues therefore the homeowner will be responsible for any incurred expense.

12. I have a lost/found dog who should I contact?

Reporting Lost or Found Dogs

1. Having a current dog license is the best way to ensure a dog is returned to its owner. For details visit Delaware County's Getting Your Dog License page.

2. Anyone who finds a lost dog with a license can locate the owner by visiting the County website and click on Return a Lost Dog, enter the license type and number, and they will get the owner’s phone number. Or call the Delaware County Treasurer’s Office at 610-891-4276 during regular business hours to get the owner’s information.

3. If you find a lost dog and cannot locate the owner, contact the animal control officer in your municipality or call 911. Delaware County’s Emergency Services dispatchers will keep a log of recently reported found and lost dogs.

4. To report or reclaim a lost dog, call the Brandywine Vet Hospital at 610-459-0500, and provide detailed information. Stray dogs that cannot be returned to their owner will be transported to the Brandywine Vet Hospital by the local animal control officer. Citizen drop-off of stray animals will not be accepted.

17. Is open burning allowed?: No open burning is permitted in the township.

18. How do I know which streets are Township maintained and which are PennDOT maintained?

Not all streets within the township are maintained by Upper Providence. Most streets are maintained by Upper Providence Township others are maintained by PennDOT. Here is a list of PennDOT streets:

19. When is yard waste collected and how?: Contractor shall collect, remove and dispose of yard waste placed at curbside in approved paper biodegradable, compostable bags, approved 55 gallon container or tied into bundles no more than 3 feet in length and weighing no more than 30 lbs. Yard waste may consist of tree trimmings, shrubbery, leaves, general yard and garden residues/wastes and other similar material but specifically excluding grass clippings. (grass clippings can be included as part of your regular trash) The collection will occur every other week on Wednesdays throughout the year or other scheduled time as approved by the Township.

20. What do I do with my old holiday tree?: In order to be composted, place trees curbside the first three Wednesdays in January each year. Trees must be free of decorations.
Residents may also place trees curbside to be collected with their regular trash.

21. Does the Township pick up leaves?: A. J. Blosenski will collect, remove and dispose of leaves at curbside in approved paper compostable, biodegradable bags starting on the first Wednesday in October through the end of December. There shall be no limit to the number of bags per household. Residents shall place their leaves at curbside, or in case of no curbing, at the end of their property, but at no time within the street.

22. When are the Township council meetings?

Township Council meets the 2nd Thursday of each month for their regular business meeting and the 4th Thursday of each month for their Committees meeting.

What can I do about my neighbor's property that is unsightly with overgrown grass, trash in the yard and weeds?: It is best to contact the Township and be directed to Code Enforcement so that the property in question can be checked for any code violations.
